Ormolu-Mounted Green Onyx, Champlevé Enamel and Porcelain Clock on Pedestal
Late 19th Century
France A beautiful green onyx pedestal having eight painted porcelain side plaques in the manner of Watteau (four uppers, four lower), surrounded by exquisite detailed champlevé and ormolu mounted decoration, flanked by rouge marble sections, the base with ormolu egg-and-dart border above a thick marble plinth. The pedestal square swivel top supporting a sensational onyx and bronze Clock, Barometer and Temperature Gauge with enamel faces encircled with French paste and gilt dials. The center of the clock features a hand painted porcelain lidded urn, with champlevé, ormolu mounting, and flame finial. All set upon a raised round onyx base on three ormolu toupee feet.
